A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android

Story

The game is getting no new releases but I will continue the story in a different format. Check devlog or the public announcement I put on patreon and discord for more info.

At the age of 4 years old, your parents were murdered in your childhood home. The years that would follow only got worse, every family you lived with died in a mysterious tragedy. Slowly but surely rumors spread and you started to be known in the community as the cursed child. These tragedies continued until you were adopted by a young single mother of 3 named Natalie and since then, your life has been a life of happiness and joy, you have finally found your home.

These years of peace continued until one day, tragedy strikes again while you’re out shopping . However this time, you discover you have a mysterious power. What is the source of this power and since when do you have it? More importantly, what will you do now that you’ve discovered this ability?

Embark on an adventure as a young man who just discovered magical abilities as him and his family move to Walton. Will this new town contain the secrets of his newfound abilities? Will it help him become the most powerful being in existence or will he be crushed beneath the heel of the secret societies and ancient evils. Enter the world of Evermore to develop your powers and relationships as you make your way through a world of half-truths. Who is truly your ally? Who will try to use you?

If you liked the game check the Patreon and consider joining the discord server! I will be making announcements whenever I can about where I'm at with the Novel version of the story.

I'm going to be polite but also kinda blunt.

There are some changes you absolutely must make to your pages. Simply just to be fair to anyone searching itch and Patreon. (Something likely needs changing on Subscribestar but that site's locked behind age-verification. So bugger that.

  • More Information panel here still shows as In Development. Which also means it will be included in search results if people are filtering on release status. You need to switch to Cancelled
    • TBH, it should have been switch to On Hold the moment you went on the original hiatus.
  • Move the notification and link to post to above the Story section. it should be the first thing people see. Not an afterthought once the synopsis has got them interested only to dash their hopes.
  • Confider removing "You get to choose the outcome of this adventure, so choose wisely…" because, at this point, that's just cruel.
    • On a tangent: This is a big part of what got me, and likely others, interested in the first place. There are plenty of linear books out there already. Stories that we can influence and are still actually interesting are damned rare.
  • Your Patreon still says "Creating Games". Probably needs changing to "Writing Books".

I don't agree with those that say your actions thus far have been dishonest. however, continuing to not address these issues would be.

(1 edit) (+2)

I just made a couple of the changes but there's only so much I can do on mobile since I'm at work right now.

I'll have to take a look and finally totally overhaul my Patreon, it's overdue at this point.

The more information panel I can't seem to find how to change on mobile so that'll have to be done later as well. I didn't even realize that was a thing.

👍💯

Not playabke on android -no possibilety to save/load

(+6)

Woah, I didn't notice when I first downloaded that it was abandoned? That's too bad. Albeit some corny moments, this game is far too creative and captivating to be abandoned.. I don't believe I'd enjoy it quite as much without the visuals, the characters are half of the captivation. Unfortunate, but hey, what can you do?

(+2)
Unfortunate, but hey, what can you do?

Wait/hope for a change of heart?

Is there any content about pregnancy?

It depends on who you do and how you do them.

Can you tell me what to do?

(+1)

Sadly, I can't remember exactly when it happens and how to trigger it.

And I have zero motivation to play back through from the beginning.

(+1)

Why not both?

(+3)

Apparently, lack of time. VN creation is one of those things that is time intensive and hard to juggle with a job and other personal life commitments.

It is understandable, as much as I (and many of us commenting)  think dropping the VN is a mistake and are sceptical of how successful it would be as a book.

(Something can be both understandable and a wrong move at the same time)

Finding success with the book would be nice but isn't the point. Having had a creative pursuit through this game, it wasn't something I could just drop entirely. I was gonna write the book anyways and simply announced it here for those who did want to read it, even though I don't expect everyone to want to read a novel.

AVN's and novels are very different and not everyone who likes VNs likes books, and that's fine.

Also if the doubt is about my writing abilities, let me just say no one is more aware of the flaws in Evermore than I am. I've always been super critical of my own work and I'm not delusional enough to think I'd be able to write a great book right out the gate after cancelling Evermore. I've had to practice and learn a lot to write in this new format. That's the main reason why I haven't announced a book release yet. I started a long time ago but had to stop because I knew I needed more writing practice before I was actually comfortable writing a book that I thought would be good.

(+1)

Honestly, nobody is complaining about the writing, yeah it's a bit corny at times but it's one of the games charms. People aren't happy because you're taking an amazing experience and turning into a shadow of its former self. I know my words probably won't change your mind and I know you've probably received tons of support on discord or from some of the comments here, however, to put it in other terms, you're taking a beautiful painting, stripping it to just a canvas with a sketch and calling it good. For those of us who've been waiting for literal years for this project because we love what it is, this is an insult to us and honestly, it may be one of your worst decisions with this story.

Please don't take these words as anything hostile or antagonistic, my goal with saying this isn't to make you feel bad or belittle you, simply expressing the thoughts many of us share. I wish nothing but the best for you in life and your endeavors, however I and may others have no interest in a book. If you change your mind I'm sure tins of people would be ecstatic, but it's also likely you've burned a lot of the bridges people had extended to this project.

As I said before in my other comment, I wish you the best broskie. I have no I'll will towards you or your book I hope they're what you're hoping for. Good luck brother.

whatever the result AVN,VN,or regular book,I'm excited to enjoy it. It's not often I find something original to enjoy these days.

(1 edit) (+14)

I know you probably won't read this Dev but I just want to say I loved your game I played it a whole ago and I couldn't wait for a update then I found out you abandon this game I understand you want to follow your heart and write this book but to be totally honest with you though this was a big mistake respectfully a lot of your fans probably won't read your book myself included I prefer AVNs over books I think what you should of did instead was write your book and still keeping on making this amazing game or at lest give it to other dev who would be happy to continue where you left off to be honest im not a good dev but I would be happy too im pretty sure other people would be too just so this great game could continue but that's all im going to say I really do hope you have success going forward i wish you luck

(2 edits) (+5)

Hey dev,i doubt your still checking these comments, but i'm disappointed it's no longer going to be a VN after reading the comments and your dev logs, just got into playing it,probably won't be worth playing again after i finish it,why couldn't youdo both,it ended as the story was getting good, you can make choices with a VN,you cant with a book, wouldn't be better to keep going with the VN and still do the book?

(+4)

I totally agree with Archangel226 I just started getting into visual novels and I happen by chance to try this one. And I really got hooked. Since finding out that there will be no more story I have gone into a deep depression.

Have you thought about continuing this vn along with writing the book. I would think the story, along with the characters, and their interactions would be pretty much the same. All you would need to do is add the visuals. Of course I make it sound so easy, but I am sure it is not. This would also allow  to use both formats to test ideas and really see what works best when it comes to how one will visualize your story.

(+3)

There are plenty of great AVN's out there that get regular work, but sadly yeah, it's an all too common issue in this scene.  Vaporware is real, and it can be painful.  I've had quite a few stories I was seriously invested in that either dropped off the map completely or were cancelled.

A really great on that I have followed closely up until recently(1yr between updates is a bit much for me, but some people are patient) is Eternum.  REALLY great story, amazing visuals.  Highly recommend if you're patient enough to wait a year between updates

Leap of Faith is another really great one if you're into heavier stories(has some pretty heavy tones, but it's a great story) and best of all, it's complete.

you can check out my profile to see some of the one's I've played and supported on here.

I know, Her Fall by TwizSin was good too but he disappeared just before the last chapter

Does anybody know how to unlock arias scene

(+10)

Absolutely tragic with the latest news, I played this game over two years ago and decided to stop playing to let it get more content, absolutely loved and adored the game then only to come back to an abandoned game in favor of a book. When I want to check out a book, I do audio books because then I can multi-task something else, I'm not gonna spend the little free time I get staring at a book just for the core story. The core story is fantastic, but the decision to abandon everything else is telling that you don't really understand what makes everyone love this game. People love the story sure, but we also love the connection to the characters and intimacy built between mc and the other characters, it felt personal and i, like many others, were able to connect to them and build an attachment to them. To abandon everything and strip the story to its skeleton is probably the worst decision you could have made and I truly hope you reconsider. All that being said, good luck with your future endeavors, but I sadly won't be following them.

Do you plan to add Spanish?

(+2)

Seeing as he’s dropped the project, I highly doubt it.

That's a shame, but thanks for responding :)

(+2)

Is there any content about pregnancy?

Hello again

. Is this game also available?

This game has no pregnancy in it but its definitely worth a playthrough

(+4)

The dev is abandoning it to make it a novel, whatever that means. Hopefully you aren't giving him any money for him to abandon the game.

(+11)

Ok - you made a beautiful game here only to convert it to a book - good luck with that, most are here for AVNs, if i want to read a book i go elsewhere...
For my 2 cents you made the wrong decision, i wanted to give you a pledge on Patreon, but for the AVN not for a book. So i gave my Pledgs to Mothers and Daughters....
There are already too much abandoned AVNs out there, and this is an abandonement, sure its your decision but people dont have to like it.

As i said before - good luck with your book...

(+12)

Just played the game and loved it. Went to check when an update would happen and saw the game is being abandoned for a book. Really disappointing and wish I had checked prior to dl.

I respect the devs choice but the Visual in AVN is the main draw for me. There are endless other options from world renowned authors if I want to read a book.

(+3)

👍💯

(1 edit) (+1)

Also there are endless series that are already significantly in progress.

Seek those out instead. Much more satisfying.

My advice to any avid reader is to  avoid any series that only has book 1 out, unless you’re 100% prepared for the risk of abandonment.
Melanie Rawn’s Exiles “trilogy” taught me that in the mid-90s.

Only ever start a series that’s at least 3 books in - unless it’s a duology.
These days, I favour series that have a good 5-10 books released.

Also, be very wary of authors who are too interested in stretching out answers to mysteries. Cliffhangers are only good if eventually resolved.
if someone wants to sift focus for a few years before resolving dangling plot lines, to hell with them.

I just read the Patreon notice. And a book sounds awesome. I myself am an amateur writer. I have put short stories on a variety of sites and enjoy the feedback. I wish you glory and can't wait to read your novel

(+10)

I just finished playing the game and honestly I loved it!

I must say that I'm a bit sad that the game is being abandoned though.

I still think I'll buy the book(s) whenever they're released because I love the story and the characters, but as sad as it is to say, I don't read actual books as much as I used to do years ago, and I think that now the same goes for a lot of people. It is most certain that a VN format would be more enjoyable for the greatest number in 2025, even just for the ability to see the characters faces and to have a better sense of immersion into the story.

Anyways, I'll try to keep up with the updates regarding the progress of the first book (even though I know projects like this take a LOT of time and it might still be a matter of years).

👍

(1 edit) (+25)

I think multiple things are clear at this point:

  • Many people want to see Evermore continue in its original format
  • Even many of those who support the dev’s choice to follow his own heart have little interest in actually reading the book
  • When the books eventually start coming out, there will be very little goodwill from the existing audience, so  he’ll need to build a  new one from scratch.

I can see this last point being very problematic. A quick search on Amazon shows that “Evermore” is not an original title. And many of them are already fantasy and/or romance.

Starting over as a regular novel series just feels like setting up for failure.

(+7)

Especially in current times with stuff like AI books becoming more and more of a thing, like sure its sad to see a project thats written so well so far not being continued in its intended way, but i feel like its even sadder in its own way to see someone who can write stuff so well most likely not getting the success he/she deserves with the current route he/she is going.

And by all means let the prometheus do what makes him/her happy, but i do fear the same way of failure with the route

(+6)

It is a shame. Prometheus clearly had the talent, it’s just a shame that it will get overshadowed by the sheer loss of goodwill such a direction shift has brought.

There are plenty of of posts (and upvotes) here showing that people would rather it continued as it was.

For actual support, there are a grand total of 7 comments on the Patreon post. That’s it.
Granted, comments are subscriber-only. So maybe there are a lot of non-paying supporters who are Ok with things. But if that were the case, surely that support would show up here?

The story’s audience is VN players and I highly suspect this is unlikely to change much any time soon.

💯👍

The title will be different, Evermore was fine for a game name but not so much for the books. Anyways I agree with you on all this, I'm not expecting my numbers and the entire community to transfer over.

Basically,I didn't want to abandon the core story because I love the direction it was starting to head in and I have a massive amount of the history and future fleshed out. I was gonna write these books whether I made the announcement or not. I just figured I'd make the announcement so that anyone who did want to see it as a book, could and I could keep them up to date whenever I do finish it. If that applies to only 10 people, then those will be 10 people who won't have to get lucky to stumble upon the story and to finally get the full plot. I considered completely disassociating the book from the game as one possible path I could take, but I figured there would be some who do want read it so I made the announcement.

its going to be amazing and its going to do so well, you jsut need to believe in yourself YOU GOT THIS ^^

(+3)

Its your story to tell - absolutely, but in my mind you are throwing away a gorgeous AVN for a Book, that most of your AVN Audience will probably never read, most will search for a new AVN instead...Sure its your decision, and if you think you must do it do it, but in my mind its an error.

Netherless i wish you luck with your book brother, may it be what you wish it to be.

(+1)

You'll probably come to find that this route will be a mistake. The book world is vast and I think your story will be lost in it. AVNs are a much smaller arena and good AVNs are supported. But it's your story, so you'll just have to live with the consequences.

(1 edit) (+1)

Of course it’s a mistake.

Sadly, those with a vision of how they want to accomplish something are usually blind to any drawbacks, and march willingly down the road to obscurity.

Seen it before. This has all the hallmarks.

Failure to listen to your audience is failure to survive.

Just once, I want someone to realise “Shit, this ain’t gonna work” and return to what everyone’s telling them is the right path.

(+2)

It's my own fault for dling and playing the game before reading most recent update, and I know it wasn't planned, but it feels like such a bait and switch.

(+2)

That's rough but understandable. When looking for games, I may take a quick look at the update history but mainly just want to paly it to see if it's for me or not.

I found Evermore in early 2024. So, at the time, was still apparently in full development. There were public updates on Patreon showing 0.6 as being in progress.
After that cliffhanger, I was actually contemplating becoming a paid member. Luckily the Indefinite pause update went up just before I decided to pull the trigger.

But it's annoying. I was enjoying experiencing the story as the character. It's a different experience that what I get when reading (or, these days, listening to) books.

(+3)

Absolutely - the market of good AVNs is small - to be successful with a book in near zero - without sugarcoating it . He throws away a very good AVN for a Book which will probably never see the light of day...
So i agree 100% with your comment, could not said it better...

I think he has until the end of the year, one way or the other.

If 2027 rolls around without either book one or VN 0.6 releasing, chances of success are zero.

(1 edit) (+6)

It's a shame that this great game seems to be joining the far too long list of unfinished projects :( I know this challenge from my own project, but luckily I managed to overcome it.

(+2)

you beggining again?

(+2)

I think many of us wish this would be the case.

(+7)

Just have to remind you guys, don't click on links from other members unless you trust them. Official updates can be downloaded from the website.

(+4)

Is this game abandoned?

(1 edit) (+9)

Unless the dev has a miraculous change of heart (unlikely), it is abandoned in game/VN form.

Apparently, it will eventually be released as a series of books. But the current hanging plotline… I wouldn’t expect resolution and time this decade.

Personally, as someone who has seen stories go on hiatus since the 90s and 00s, I don’t see it ever resolving. Every once in a a while it does happen but it’s rare enough to not be worth keeping your hopes up.

(+1)

do you know what program or apps they used to make these? might as well try my hand at making one or something

(+1)

renpy

(+3)

The number of games I've played and had to drop due to creators abandoning their projects was what inspired me to start writing my own story. 3 years into world development now, I'm getting close to the point of being able to actually start physical work. It's definitely fun and shouldn't take as long as I've let it, but I tend to slack sometimes, and I have a pretty busy personal life, so it is what it is.

(+3)

You are right, sorry to say, the gorgeous AVN is dead in the water and - just my 2 cents - nobody needs another fucking book...

Bravo pour to taf je kiff ton jeu

i need to play an avn that have these character models ! anyone got any recommendations?

(+15)

Eternum by Caribdis. Literally the best avn i've ever played

(+2)

yess i love that avn. im trying to find some avns with these exact models, ive seen a few but only like 1 or 2. trying to find more haha

(+4)

You're looking for Honey Select 2 games. If you google around there are a few Itch.io collections that people have made with AVNs that use HS2

thanksss

(+1)

Great story, horrible update schedule. Lazy dev syndrome strikes again.

(+1)

💯 - and Eternum will never get abandoned, thats for sure, same for Being a Dik !

(1 edit) (+12)

The real question here is when will the story catch up to the cliffhanger reveal? (And will it even get that far?)
Leaving it there then going back to rework the story from the beginning is just… I dunno, it leaves a bad taste.

This isn’t like a show being cancelled by a network, or a commercial game series being dropped by a publisher.
And it’s not like long running series that get dropped because the author has to stop entirely.

It’s someone making a conscious decision to change from one medium to another and rewrite from the beginning, despite a major cliffhanger, and to hell with the audience.

Even if that wasn’t the intention, it is how it comes across.

It is💯  so, no need to sugarcoat it....well said !

(+3)

I once said I loved this VN for its humor (Chris Evans looking worse than pre-Captain America serum Steve Rogers; Mr. Albinauric from Elden Ring etc.) and hoped I'd see more of it in the future (and even, for the first time, requested recommendations of other VN with the same level of humor, if not more), but was shocked to come back & dust off the old book just to find out that it will literally become a book.

I will not lie and say I'm a fan of this change as I did not expect this as the kind of novel to put its words into imagination for me. It just did so well to spontaneously fish the media culture out of my mind as comedic references. It saddens me that I'll never see the characters again, especially a potentially updated version of Mr. "Alby" as a result, but I hope it goes well for you Prometheus with the absence of those who feel somewhat mutual with my opinion or those who feel something else is lost which doesn't attract them to the future of the novel as well. Farewell.

(+2)

i feel it, is what it is its best to just look upon greener pastures and bid farewell to a goodtime come and gone

Just done it for 6 time and I'm still waiting for the next update please show

(+4)

There will be no more updates

(+4)

I'm not a book read person so it's a shame I won't be able to know where the story goes, it was so interesting, I was so hooked innit. That's why I was so sad when I finally decided to check on patreon and found out that the visual novel was going to be abandoned and be continued in a book, from there I had to delete the game. It's just hard for someone like me who has never read any Manga and will never read ever to continue with the book. Otherwise it was an amazing story, I couldn't care more about the sexual Content, I was just hooked for the story that's why I ain't gonna lie I'm low key disappointed but it's you who makes it and knows how hard it is and your limits and knows what's good for your work, so with that being said I can only say good luck and hope everything is going fine with your book

(+3)

Much like many others, I am rather disappointed on the shift in how the story shall be relayed from now on but regardless I am a firm believer in doing things the way you want and as such, wish you luck with the book. I am not really someone who reads books as I have a need to put visuals to the dialogue so I suppose I shall have to live with never knowing which way the story continued and or ended.

(+3)

I feel like the dev’s going in a direction where I don’t think the current audience is likely to follow.

Whether he can attract a new audience is an open question. Could go either way.

(1 edit) (+1)

the audience is majority male.
women read porn books, men need visuals with their porn..and women generally wont like this plot, and his style of penmanship does not suit novel format..
dev is headed towards a void that wont be filled by any audience.

If it was only his mistake to live with, I wouldn’t mind as much.

It’s leaving us all with dangling plotlines  that really makes me angry about the whole thing.
It speaks to a major lack of respect towards the audience.

Not a good sign in someone wanting to become an author.

(1 edit) (+10)

Why would we want to read this as a book when so many of us have fallen in love with these amazing VISUAL characters and their story. I just don't get it. Sell the rights and let another developer finish it. Anyway, it is what it is, I loved it and will just have to imagine what happens next. Good luck to you. (By the way, I would personally pay 50US dollars to have this completed VN in my collection) (It's THAT good!!)

(+3)

only 50 i am litteraly ready to give 1% of my current money for it (196$/19596$)

(+4)

I just finished Evermore about 5 minutes ago at the time of this post, played through it all in one sitting. Evermore was amazing, definitely in my top 5 of avns I've played. I hate to see it getting turned into a book, as I'm not one who reads. I would love to see Evermore get finished, as it has great potential. The choice is yours though, although many don't like the change, myself included. If you ever come back to making AVN's I will love to see how Evermore progresses.

(+6)

Just saying 90% of visual novel fans are there for the story even if it has porn. Creating a new world just to basically cut it off for, lets face it a far harsher and worse genre of creation is just wrong. Especially since you're losing a core part of your fanbase that was interested in having both. So I urge you to please reconsider this choice. Especially since not finishing the project looks bad on your side and in the same vein even if you didn't want the porn you 100% could have removed it and edited the story to not directly have porn but have adult themes instead.

(+7)

I am really disappointed that you stopped here. How can you not finish this project.

I am in total disbelieve.

You had something good going here and you just drop it and leave your fans hanging?

Thats really hard.

(+5)

Please reconsider pivoting Evermore to a novel. I dont know if i can speak for anyone other than myself here but the story was great and im dont particularly care about the porn stuff, its nice for eye candy like, but i play these games because im interested in the story, and it feels in bad taste to abandon the project and change the medium just when most people would really start getting into the game. I get dev work is time consuming and difficult work, but when you have a project that so many people are interested in, you should double down on it, not abandon it to create an inferior version. I dont know if my point comes across as constructive but i really do mean it that way

(+4)

I do care about the sexual content. Because it can have consequences that affect how parts of the story play out.

(+1)

In that aspect i agree, its my fault for not explaining better my point. What i mean is, i dont care about sexual content that is there purely for the sake of sexual content, but when it makes sense in and has impact on the story, that, I feel is different as it's part storytelling.

(+3)

where can I find the book?

(+2)

I think I am lucky, because this game has given me a lot of fun these days, and at the same time, after I cleared the 0.5 version, I feel so sorry that this game can't continue to develop. As a player in different languages, I even use two mobile phones to read the story of this game. For the follow-up development novel, I may really not be able to read it. However, I am still very grateful to the author for bringing me such an excellent game experience. If this game can continue to run in the future, I hope I can remember and come to support it (please ignore the inconvenience caused by rollover)

(+3)

the funniest thing i heard today LOL

(+13)

it definitely seems to be the end which is a shame because it was really great, but the way he went about ending it was a very asshole way to do it, he knew for a year that he wasn't going to finish it, so all the people that where paying him for updates basically got scammed out of their money. there where plenty of people that where there for the smut AND the story, i should know because i was one of them.

this is specifically for the DEV: I hope you reconsider and do end up finishing the game, including the smut, I say this with reservations.

IF (and i do mean IF) you ever actually finish the novels, ill only be reading them because i hate leaving a story unfinished. you've screwed over the people that trusted you, I honestly dont see how people are finding ways to defend what you did. writing a novel version without the smut would have been fine if you had been honest about it when you first decided to end the development of the game over a year ago.

(+2)

Total dick move and borderline scam.

(+2)

Привет очень хотелось бы чтобы разработчик снова вернулся к игре игра очень хорошая интересная пожалуйста возврашаися к игре

(1 edit) (+1)

Just finished a couple minutes ago, I absolutely loved the story

I can't say I'm not at least a little disappointed that from what I've seen the visual novel won't continue, but I'll definitely keep an eye out for the book

The story is enthralling and I can't wait to see what happens

Will I miss the adult content and everything tied to it? Of course, some of it was the most creative I've seen in a while

But I like the story and I'm sticking to my response

The amount of anititty nerds in here crashing out lmao. Called gooner shit cause it is gooner shit.  Dev's story, dev's work, dev can do what the fuck they want with it.  If they are tired of doing gooner shit, aint gotta do gooner shit.  Go grab another animated porn for your whole "I need to see animated people having sex because it's too unbelievable for me to actually see a real person having sex" life, and stop crashing out on a porn game comment section.

And yall got the nerve to call the dev a "loser"... Right.

Dev do your thing,  writing is an interesting turn.  It's a good story, I'll be honest I don't know if it's truly "novel" level of a story but interesting to see what you pull out of it.  Maybe adjust your medium from novels and focus on webisode/webtoon style story release as you get a better feel on fleshed out writing mechanics.
